This is Romina's comment:

"Hello! Here is my comment. I think that the parameters for a comfortable intelligibility would be determined by the boss' accent. If he speaks RP English, then this variant should be the focus. Otherwise, intellegibility would be connected to all the aspects that convey meaning, includng paralinguistic features, body language and intonation as well as sounds. "

Please discuss the part of the text I highlighted.

I think that what Romina says about the veriety of English that the boss speaks is important because the learner must be aware of what is socially and culturally appropriate to that variety of language. This awareness will help him to be more intelligible.Mariana.

Mariana:
In what sense are you taking the word 'variety'?

I considered the English spoken variant as very important so as to make communication smoother. If the learner is aware of the particular features of the variant spoken by the boss, he will be able to understand him better.

True, Romina, but I think we are digressing in a way: we were talking about 'comfortable intelligibility', i.e., the ability to make yourself understood.
Can a student be expected to accommodate to his interlocutor's accent, as far as production is concerned?
